Ft. Riley Welcomes Home Vietnam Veterans

The 1st Infantry Division continued its commitment to honor our Vietnam-era veterans with a Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Ceremony Aug. 23, 2017 at Fort Riley, Kansas. This was their third such annual ceremony honoring the Vietnam Veterans coinciding with the war’s 50th anniversary. Veterans will be joined by active-duty Soldiers from the 1st Inf. Div. returning from deployments as well as their families, civilian patriots and volunteers including the Pride of the Prairie 4H group and the All American Beef Battalion.

627th Hospital Center Organizational Day

Organizational days are always special. It’s is an opportunity for the members of a unit to come together with their commanders, spouses, and family members to share in fellowship, games, and of course, great food. We always love providing hearty, juicy “Thank You’s” at Org days. We love seeing troops, their spouses and families come together for such a fun filled event and are honored to serve those who serve us.The 627th Hospital Center Org. Day was a great event with camaraderie and little ones everywhere and lots of great volunteers!

2-135th GSAB Family Day

The 2-135th Ground Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB) flies a variety of missions, from security operations to disaster relief. They might be transporting troops or aiding medical evacuations. Every member of aviation, from pilots to crew chiefs to mechanics, is vital to accomplishing a mission. Every helicopter has its own team of mechanics to ensure it’s always running efficiently. In the event of a natural disaster, Guard pilots drop water and food and save those in harm’s way. They are trained to fly in any weather and take off or land in high-risk situations.

The work the 2-135 GSAB does is vitally important and so is their family days. Family days are always special. It’s is an opportunity for the members of a unit to come together with their commanders, spouses, and family members to share in fellowship, games, and of course, great food.
